READ MY NEW COMIC by BLOODSTORME READ MY NEW COMIC by BLOODSTORME
OK … so now you’re thinking “WHAT THE ???” This isn't a deviation ... Is It???

You're right ... it isn't. It's a place marker for the actual deviation, which, unfortunately I can't post here, but I wanted to share it with you anyway.

So what's the real deviation then?

The real deviation is a comic.

Yep … I wrote a comic, and had it illustrated by Terry Huddleston. I found him right here on Deviant Art and sent him my script, which he took and breathed spectacular life into.

I know that must sound pretty simple, but it was actually more like skinning a live cat. It’s not so easy when you actually try to do it. I’m sure Terry still has some scratches and scars from the 6 months he put into this, and I have to applaud Terry for the awesome work he has done.

I’m sure by now you can guess it’s a Star Wars comic, so if you’re interested in my new and very directionally different deviation, please >>> click here <<< to be transported off to another galaxy, far far away.

I hope you like it, and you can leave your comments on the blog that goes with it, as well as here on Deviant Art.

Thanks

Ray Grinberg.

That's the best comment I've had on this project from DA. May I include your comment on my website?

P.S. Issues 2 and 3 are on the way ...

I very much appreciate that. Thank you. I'll be posting a journal entry when the next two issues are completed, so keep an eye open for it.

Great to see you multi-skill. I am not a Star Wars fan and admit to only skim reading a few pages, but the story line looks great and the illustrations are totally right for the script. *Thuddleston did you (and himself) proud.

I agree completely. Terry has done an awesome job on the illustrations. I think his style is perfect for Star Wars. I'm currently writing issue # 5, so there is lots more to come yet.

 ...

I reckon it made people do a complete about face, as far as my art goes ... It's certainly not what people would expect from me, and that's probably why so few people have actually looked at it.

I've learnt that folks on DA want blades from me though, so there'll be more of those soon.

yeah it seems to be a good idea on sites like these to keep to the things people expect from you for the most part and only throw out a WTF?! every once in a while.... it was also a some what interesting divergence from most Star Wars related material out there.(including fan pieces) I should show it to heavyarms... :)

I'll take your comments on my comic as a positive thing, and if you know anyone else who might be interested in reading it, please do pass the link along.

yes the comment is a good thing. I'll toss the link up in the webcomics thread on the site Heavyarms and i run. i wont be a lot of exposure since the community is rather tiny and young but it's some.

That would be very much appreciated. A limited run of printed copies will be available soon, so I might put them up on DA if people are interested.

I admit I didn't want to read the comic the first time I came and read it was a page marker. I was in a 'only want to read a Luke story and slash please too' fit.... It happens sometime ^^ Even if I'm a star wars fan and love Luke Mara pairing more than anything.

I had just suddenly came accross a good fanfiction and it made me want more of this kind. So.... a comic? I wasn't real sure I wanted to read it.

But then, it seemed so important to you, (your journal entry ^^) that I went and hoped for the best.

It happens so: it was the best I could hope for. It was a side story of the movies, and I loved that fact. It described the life on this planet really clearly.

A real bonus to the star wars universe.

As you see, I loved.

The design is not perfect, but it's a good design, and the pictures are telling the story. It's a good reading, and easy on the eyes. I don't regret changing my mind.

Thank you so much for explaining your initial thoughts about reading my comic. I really related to you when you said you were reluctant to read a FanFic. I'm kind of the same. I like my Star Wars stories to be "official" as well, so I must thank you deeply for taking the plunge and going to read it. It warms me to know that you even enjoyed it, and found something positive in it, and your comments are certainly valued.

Please explain to me though where you think the design was lacking. I am very interested to hear more about your opinion on that.

Thanks again for coming back and having a look.

There is a lack of 'details' in the drawings. It's all more relief lines than what I think would suit better the star wars universe. Because star wars is all about giving more and more of its worlds.

Here the design is basic. It's not bad, as it is still beautifull. But not as much as it could. There is much possibility for the artist to give more of himself. He works the outline really well, but leaves the 'insides', textures, shades, to be desired.

Aside from that, I was surprised b how much I came to love the way the designer did the characters. He has great talent for giving their feelings in just some lines on faces or body language.

You choose him well.

I know it is harder to make details in a picture, but it is something the artist should work on. After all, all artist has always something new to leearn. Why not begin with this star wars work. Maybe a new comic. Also it would takes more time, it would be worth it not only for the watchers, but more so for the artist. A skill gained that would give him better edge on his art.

I hope I explained evrything right. And that it'll help. Maybe.... ^^

Thank you very much. I love the way it has come out. Terry has done some awesome work on it. The next 4 issues have been written, and the story is really happening, but I need more $$$ to get them illustrated. As soon as I can though, they will be done too.

I have to say I love your own Star Wars work too. I just love lightsabres ...
