Artist's Comments

"Arador" is my latest piece of blade work. It's a longsword made for the character Arador in the Lord of The Rings prequel "Born of Hope".

The producer/director Kate Robinson contacted me after seeing my other pieces here on DA, and asked if I wanted to become involved with the project. I love LOTR and said yes.

This sword was originally supposed to be for Arathorn (Aragorn's father), but due to filming schedules and other factors, I was unable to get it finished in time for the actor playing Arathorn to have in time for filming, so it has been passed on to Arador, who is Arathorn's father (Aragorn's grandfather).

I was originally a little miffed about this, but I really do think it suits Arador better anyway.

I took some video of me doing some test cutting with this sword that you can go and see on YouTube.

If you would like to see more about "Born of Hope", please click here to go to the official website.

Hope you like this one !!!

Very neat! It's so cool to hear you got an opportunity like that from being on DA. Your bladework looks great, as always.

Thank you so much. I really do appreciate your support of my work. I wish I had more time to do more... and to do more on DFA as well. You may be one of the few who get an answer from me.

This is an awesome piece and I can see where you would be slightly unsettled that they didn't wait but I agree after looking at the website that it fits the father's character better. Nicely done! Congratulations!

*LOL* ... It will be some time before we all get to see it on film ... but it will be worth seeing. I'm really glad you see that Arador suits it better. This sword was originally named for Arathorn ... but I don't mind the change.

that is awesome... and so is the video. That is so freaking cool.

I would so buy your one of swords to add to my very small and very slowly growing sword collection, if I had the green to do so. Your detail is always so beautiful.

Yes, I am crazy. But I'm a artist, its allowed. As along as I don't go cutting off my ear... or someone else's for that matter. I 'should' be Fine. bro: ~crashfourit fri ~varawdn ~LaRire

I love the craftsmanship of this piece. I love love love that it's a two handed sword (can't stand one-handers). I like the beveled edge, the green handle I think suits it very well. I guess there are only two things to criticize on:

1. The pommel is not quite right for me, it seems a bit off.

2. I would like to see more work coming out of you. :D

Great work.
